Casa III 5/17/2012 Newsletter

Dear Casa III Families,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day!  I heard many lovely stories about serving breakfast in bed, visiting grandparents and showering mom with flowers.  Personally, I think we should have more days like Mother’s Day throughout the year to show our love and appreciation for some of the most important people in our lives.

The highlight for this week in Casa III was definitely our trip to Gale Woods Farm.  We couldn’t have hoped for a more beautiful day; the sun was shining and the air was warm.  Also, the farm was unusually un-crowded, allowing for our children to have ample time with all of the farm activities.

Some of the favorite activities that the children talked about were petting the sheep, feeding the chickens and milking a cow.  The children’s curiosity came alive when we walked through their “edible gardens” and were able to taste test fresh asparagus, spinach, rhubarb and even an edible flower!  One of my favorite pictures taken from our trip is one taken right after a young girl took an enormous bite of raw rhubarb (doesn’t taste quite like rhubarb pie…)

Here are a couple other pictures of the children enjoying the animals of Gale Woods Farm  ( I apologize for my sub-par photographs, we are always looking for parent volunteers with a good camera and photography skills!) :

Enjoy your weekend,

Courtney
