Located in Chaska, Minnesota, our Montessori School is dedicated to empowering our students to be well-rounded and socially responsible.

Jonathan Montessori House of Children serves the needs of individuals aiming for the fullest possible development of the human potential as a preparation for life. The Montessori experience strives to meet the needs of the child socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically, and spiritually. The environment offers the opportunity for exploration and discovery, encouraging independence and self-motivated learning.

Jonathan Montessori offers a learning environment for children ages 2 years 9 months through 6 years of age. The earlier children enter the program, the more opportunity they have to take advantage of their capabilities. From birth to age six, the young child learns in a very special way. Montessori calls this period "the absorbent mind." Using their senses, very young children explore their world and absorb all that is within their environment. The Montessori environment is an extension of the home, offering a wealth of materials and experiences through which the child constructs his or her personality.

Yearbooks
The deadline to order a JMS yearbook is tomorrow, Friday, May 8th.  If you would still like to order a yearbooks, please turn in your order form by then.  The order form is attached to the newsletter.

JMS Family/Staff Picnic & Potluck
Flyers are attached to this week's newsletter about the picnic at Lion's Park in Chaska on Friday, May 29.  This annual event is always fun for students, staff, and families of JMS to socialize together.  Casa 3: if you're able to pick up your child a little bit early that day, the "late" staff would appreciate it.

Enrollment/Spread the News
We are having an Open House the week of May 11th - May 15th from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. for anyone interested in finding more about JMS or possibly enrolling.  Please tell your friends and family who may be interested in attending this event and enrolling their child!  If any parents think they know of a good location to advertise this event, please contact the office about picking up postcards to deliver to those locations.

Tie-Dye Field Trip
Permission slips are coming home today and need to be returned by Wednesday, May 13 along with a washed, white T-shirt.  All children will have a chance to tie-dye a shirt with Jamie Crannell's, (yes Office Diane's husband), high school students at CHS.  The children will depart the school at 9:40 and return at 11:30.  Please make sure your child arrives on time to school that day!

Summer Program Registration
Summer is coming quickly, and we have some wonderful summer programs!  Spaces are still available!!  Please contact the office if you need a copy of the summer program information.

Classroom Wish List
We will have an ongoing section in our newsletter for classroom wish lists.  If you are able to donate any of the items, it will be greatly appreciated!

Casa II: Short garden fencing (6 segments), rocks/small boulders (6" or so), hanging plant for the classroom (ivy?), hanging lamp from Ikea (talk to Teresa)
