Welcome to Jonathan Montessori House of Children

Located in Chaska, Minnesota, our Montessori School is dedicated to empowering our students to be well-rounded and socially responsible.

Jonathan Montessori House of Children serves the needs of individuals aiming for the fullest possible development of the human potential as a preparation for life. The Montessori experience strives to meet the needs of the child socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically, and spiritually. The environment offers the opportunity for exploration and discovery, encouraging independence and self-motivated learning.

Jonathan Montessori offers a learning environment for children ages 2 years 9 months through 6 years of age. The earlier children enter the program, the more opportunity they have to take advantage of their capabilities. From birth to age six, the young child learns in a very special way. Montessori calls this period "the absorbent mind." Using their senses, very young children explore their world and absorb all that is within their environment. The Montessori environment is an extension of the home, offering a wealth of materials and experiences through which the child constructs his or her personality.

NITTY GRITTY DETAILS

Open House
JMS will be hosting an Open House on May 14th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.  Please come and view curriculum demonstrations in Casas I & II or visit Casa III to leisurely explore the environment and ask questions. 

Please bring your friends of 3-6 year old children to visit JMS on this evening.  It will be a great time for them to get their many questions answered.

We are all excited about this event and will have some activities available for children who are new visitors.

Staff Member Departing
A letter will be coming home today to all families to inform you of Judy Lambert's, (Casa 3 Teacher for 23 years,) departure from JMS.  We are so sad to see her go, but excited for her in her new venture of providing a Montessori education for her grandchildren and others in the Prior Lake area.

REMEMBER...

No Morning Busing on Wed., May 14.  District 112 has a 2-hour late start day, (including WLS,) on the 14th.  JMS will start at its regular time and will have busing at 3:00pm only.

WHAT'S NEW

Field Trip to Starring Lake Park
Permission slips are coming home today for our annual spring field trip.  This year we will be going to Starring Lake Park for lots of free play, some organized games and activities and a picnic.  A rainy day plan is underway – watch for information as needed.

THANK YOU FOR SENDING SAFE SNACKS & LUNCHES!!
May 11 – 17 is Food Allergy Awareness Week.  We just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of you for packing nut-free lunches everyday.  It means a lot to our families with children who have allergies to know that their children are safe when they come to school!

WISH LIST

-Nice furniture for the sitting area outside the JMS office.  Call the office for more details.
-Casa 2 is looking for someone to build a platform and 2 wide stepstools for them.  Contact Teresa for more info.
